The Coach House and adjoining Stables are two self-contained properties which have been recently converted from their original purpose to provide luxurious accommodation within the courtyard of Sandpit House.
The restoration and refurbishment project undertaken by the current owners of Sandpit House commenced in spring 2020 and were completed in the summer of 2021. This labour of love was a timely process in order to sympathetically restore the yard, maintaining the original farm building features dating to c.1850. Whilst retaining the period detailing of the cut stone yard buildings, every effort was made in order to provide all conceivable modern conveniences to offer our guests the best of both worlds.
The Coach House as its name suggests, features a light-filled open plan living area which is approached through the French doors in the original arch feature. Off the living space there is a modern fitted kitchen, downstairs wet room and a mezzanine bedroom above with an East facing porthole window offering a great countryside vista. The property can accommodate up to 4 people as the living room benefits from a convertible sofa bed.
The Stables is the larger of the two buildings and has two upstairs bedrooms so can also accommodate up to 4 people. It has a contemporary kitchen and reading room, both of which overlook the sun drenched courtyard (that's when the sun shines!). The real gem of this property is that it has a stunning garden room which leads onto a private east-facing courtyard, an ideal room for breakfast or relaxation and a chance to admire the rambling fields, currently occupied by a herd of dairy cows and visiting pheasants. Washing facilities include downstairs wet room and ensuite bathroom. It is worthy of note that the properties interconnect from the garden room which allows for a larger family gathering should you wish to unlock the solid dividing door.
Over 15 months between the Spring of 2020 and the Summer of 2021 Sandpit House's Coach House and its adjoining stables were stripped back, restored and refurbished to create a stunning space for our guests. Here's how it was done.
